Measure the wall, lid and seams separately
Round tins have a usable sidewall, a lid surface and sometimes a seam or rib that changes where the label should end. A wrap label needs a planned gap or overlap. A front label needs enough clear space around it to feel centered even if the tin rotates on a shelf. The full diameter is not automatically the usable label width.
Choose a finish that works with metal
Matte black tins, cream tins and brushed metallic tins all reflect light differently. White film offers a stable color base; clear film lets the tin become part of the visual; foil details can add premium contrast when used with restraint. Start with the information hierarchy, then select a finish that supports it. A finish should not be asked to fix a crowded layout.
Build scent variants from a stable system
Consider two common product directions: one collection uses a single label design with a controlled color band for each fragrance; another uses a different illustration for every scent. The first is usually easier to recognize and repeat. The second can work for gift-led collections, but it needs stricter rules for logo position, type scale and product naming.
Plan the secondary information early
Bottom labels or back labels often carry batch fields, net content and other required information. Reserve that space before the front artwork is approved. Any warning wording, symbols or market-specific compliance content should be reviewed by the responsible team; a label supplier should not guess it.
Proof the tin at the intended scale
Ask for the tin diameter, label panel, artwork, quantity and finish preference. Review the proof at actual size and check it against a real tin where possible. Brands with a stable scent line and repeat orders benefit most from a defined system; one-off handmade batches may prefer a simpler short-run approach.
