Start with the filled, closed three-well tray
The illustrated tray holds three round unlit candles in separate wells. Measure the closed tray’s width, depth and edge profile, then place the band below the visible candle tops. A flat strip measured from the empty tray can become tight once a lid lip or sealing edge is included.
The component here is a printed paperboard band around a rigid clear pack, not an adhesive sticker on wax. Decide the overlap and closure location before estimating the band length. Keep the seam away from the front product name.
Make the three-piece promise obvious
The front says “FLOATING CANDLE SET” and “3 PIECES” with three small disc icons. In the closed pack all three actual candles remain countable. If a second SKU has a different quantity or diameter, use a separate artwork version and a matching tray, not a small patch over the count.
Decorative wave graphics communicate the product format but do not show safe use. The responsible brand must approve any market-specific safety and product information separately. Our candle information-label guide
Choose board and closure for the packing line
The band needs to hold its fold and remain square during handling. Avery Dennison’s paperboard guidance
I would watch one packer close the actual band before approving a decorative finish. A flap that catches on the plastic lip or a seam that opens on stacking is more consequential than a subtle colour shift in the mockup.
Brief the complete tray, not just a label size
Send a filled sealed tray, three candle dimensions and count, wrap direction, overlap choice, approved artwork and copy, variant list, quantities and packing method. Request both a printed flat proof and a finished three-piece sample.
