Draw the bag after it is filled

Ask for the finished bag's width, gusset, seal pattern and fill level. Mark the area that stays reasonably flat when the bag stands and when it lies on a shelf. Keep the label off the heat seal, handle punch, opening line and heavy folds. The label's outside size should be based on this usable panel.

A short-run label may make sense when a buyer uses one plain stock bag for several markets or pack sizes. Directly printed film can be a better choice when artwork and demand are stable and application labour becomes material. Compare the complete packaging workflow, not only the price of one sticker.

Avery Dennison's flexible-packaging overview notes that application conditions and duration affect label performance. That is why a bottle label specification should not simply be copied onto a shifting bag.

Say “dishwasher salt” before saying anything else

A kitchen shelf may hold rinse aid, dishwasher tablets and salt side by side. A clear “DISHWASHER SALT” product name and an original crystal icon can distinguish the bag without relying only on the brand colour. Keep size and variant information in stable locations. The responsible product team must supply final directions and any required local wording.

I would show an illustrative buyer two proofs: one with a large decorative wave and small product type, one with the hierarchy reversed. If the faster recognition comes from the second, the artwork has done its job. The point is not to make the bag plain; it is to spend the available panel where a buyer needs information.

Moisture and movement need separate checks

The outer bag may encounter damp hands, powder dust, repeated squeezing and handling during storage. Record which of those conditions actually apply. Agree a finished-pack sample test for adhesion, edge lifting, ink rub and legibility. A flat press sheet or screen proof cannot settle those observations.

Inspect the label after the bag has been filled and packed for transit. Even a material that adheres well to a flat plastic sheet can appear wrinkled where a filled gusset bends. If the wrinkle is unavoidable, choose a smaller flat panel or reconsider the labelling method.

Quantity means artwork versions

Suppose a trial requires 600 one-kilogram bags and 400 two-kilogram bags. That is two artwork versions, even if the front design is nearly identical. The second pack might also need a different panel size. Quote each version, plus any back label, separately. Otherwise the apparent “1,000 labels” hides the production setup.

Send filled bag samples, material details, seal map, panel dimensions, approved text, quantities and the intended application method with the quote inquiry. Our roll versus sheet guide helps decide the delivery format. I would approve the real bag on a shelf, not the flat rectangle in the artwork file.
